How to use Buy Me This

Questions people ask

Can the person I'm buying for see what I've reserved or hidden?

No. The owner of a wishlist never sees reservation state on their own items, and hidden gifts, hiding places, notes and budgets never leave your account. Group members only see that an item is reserved, not by whom.

Why do I have to pick a name to join a group?

Members see each other by name, never by email. Pick whatever you'd like to be called.

I reserved something but can't see it in my list.

Open the group again — the copy is created on the server and syncs down. If it's for someone whose gifts you keep in the secret drawer, unlock the drawer. Still missing? Email support with the item's name.

Does it work without signal?

Yes. Add ideas in the shop; they sync when you're back online. An amber bar means something hasn't synced yet — it's never dropped silently.

Which devices?

iPhone and iPad, Apple Silicon Macs, and any browser at app.buymethis.online. Android is planned.

What do the paid plans add?

Serious: create groups and share wishlists, the secret drawer, calendar sync, price tracking, more photos per gift. Family: everything in Serious for five people (you plus four), with co-op lists. The free plan is complete for one person's own planning.

Is there a limit on photos?

Only a fair-use one, and it's generous: photos are resized when saved, so the free plan's 500 MB holds around 2,000 of them. Serious allows 5 GB and Family 10 GB per person. Your Account page shows how much you've saved and warns you if you ever get near the limit.

Can my children use it?

They're the people you buy for. Accounts are for people aged 16 and over; a child's wishlist goes in through a parent.
