Buy Me This is private by design: no public profiles, no search for other people's lists, no messaging. The only content you can see from someone else is what they've shared into a group you were invited to. If something isn't right, here's how to tell us.

Report something in a group

Every item shared into a group has a ⚑ Report action, in the app and on the web. Pick a reason (illegal content, intimate image of me, abusive or hateful, about me without my consent, or something else), add a note if you like, and send it. You'll get a reference number by email. The person who shared it is never told who reported it.

Anything else, including something you can't report from inside the app (a group name, a person, an email you received), email support@buymethis.online with as much detail as you can. You don't need an account.

What happens next

• A person reviews every report. Nothing is removed or dismissed automatically.
• We decide intimate image reports within 48 hours, illegal content within 72 hours, and other reports within 7 days. We email you the outcome.
• If we take an item down, it disappears from every group it was shared into and can't be shared again. For intimate images and illegal content, its photos stop being shown anywhere, including identical copies.
• Where the law requires it, for example for child sexual abuse material, we report to the National Crime Agency and preserve what they need. See our privacy policy.

Blocking

Block someone from a group's member list and you won't see each other's lists in any group; they can't send you invitations or gifts, and they can't join groups you own. You can also block an email address in Account → Blocked people. Every invitation email has a link to block the sender, which works without an account. Blocked people are never told.

Complaints and appeals

• Appeals: if you think we got a decision wrong (something was removed that shouldn't have been, something wasn't removed that should have been, or we got your age wrong), email us within 28 days quoting your reference. Someone looks again with fresh eyes and decides within 7 days.
• Complaints: about how we handled a report, how we keep Buy Me This safe, or our duties under the Online Safety Act. We acknowledge within 5 working days and respond within 28 days.
• You can also complain to Ofcom or the Information Commissioner's Office at any time.

Age

You must be 16 or over to hold an account. Children are welcome as the people you buy for; a child's wishlist goes in through a parent's account. If we learn that an account holder is under 16, we suspend the account and close it after 14 days unless they show us they're 16 or over.

Photos

Every photo is stripped of embedded location and device details before it's stored. We are integrating automated checking of uploaded images against the Internet Watch Foundation's database of known child sexual abuse material and will update this page when it is live.
